It is believed that the likelihood of youth crimes which are giving serious concern to society can be minimized thanks to better parental skills. Although educating parents with such skills could help address the issue, it is far from being the best solution.

It is of vital importance to equip parents with skills for preventing youth crimes. Juvenile delinquency is closely associated with parents’ care to their children. Without timely guidance and frequent observation from father and mother, children find it intricate to distinguish between the right and the wrong as well as modifying their behaviours to be appropriate, thus accidentally committing crime due to their lack of awareness. Moreover, parental behaviours, intentionally or unintentionally, exert a strong influence on shaping a child’s personality. This means that well-mannered parents show their kids moral lessons, which could make them well-rounded individuals and avoid breaking the laws.

However, solely parental skills are not enough to reduce juvenile delinquency, and government should play a vital role in tackling the issue. A significant percentage of youngsters are forced to break the law as being unemployed and living under the poverty line. Should the government be able to lower the proportion of youngsters out of work, the number of crimes committed by young people will surely follow. Stricter punishments should also be applied as a deterrent to youth who tend to perform unlawful actions. For example, the fear of freedom loss in jail may prevent a potential law-breaker from committing illegal activities.

In conclusion, albeit effective to some extent, only training parents is not enough to minimize crime rate among the young.
