1. Have you shared anything with others recently?

Yep, if memory serves right, I recently received a box of six bottles of red wine as a present. Because I couldn't finish it all, I shared three bottles with my friends, as red wine is a luxury in Asia. I adore sharing booze with others since it puts you in a good mood!

Vocabulary:

  • If memory serves right /ɪf ˈmɛməri sɜːvz raɪt/ (adv): nếu trí nhớ tôi đủ tốt

  • Booze /buːz/ (n) = alcohol: rượu

Ví dụ: I adore sharing booze with others since it puts you in a good mood!

2. What do you like to share?

That's a fascinating question. I'm a rather giving person, therefore I'm glad to share the majority of my possessions. But I really like sharing my cuisine with others. I believe that eating is one of the most fundamental things that makes everyone happy. It's a win-win scenario.

Vocabulary:

  • Fascinating /'fæsineitiη/ (n) = intriguing: thú vị

Ví dụ: Her paintings are fascinating.

  • Possessions /pə'ze∫n/ (n): vật sở hữu

3. What things do you like to share with others?

Sample 1: As someone who believes in the adage "sharing is caring," I share practically everything I have with my family and closest friends, with the exception of particularly intimate items such as underwear, which cannot be shared! I enjoy giving anything from small items like pens, books, or pads of paper to large items like my automobile, jewelry, clothing, and shoes. Every time I share anything, I feel gratified.

Vocabulary:

  • Intimate /'intimət/ (a) = private: riêng tư

Ví dụ: The room is small and intimate.

  • Gratified /ˈɡrætɪfaɪd/ (a) = satisfied: hài lòng

Ví dụ: It gratified me to know that she would soon be well again.

Sample 2: You can call me selfish, but I dislike giving material things to people. Of course, I see the importance of giving, which is why I share my knowledge or abilities with people in need, but I cannot give or offer real stuff. Sharing my expertise or ability is far more important to me than anything else since it has a long-term impact on one's life.

4. Did your parents teach you to share when you were a child?

Yes, without a doubt! Actually, sharing was unavoidable as one of seven children. When one of their children grew older, we always shared their hand-me-downs. Plus, during dinner, we would each start with a little portion to ensure that everyone got enough, then return for seconds.

Vocabulary:

  • Unavoidable /,ʌnə'vɔidəbl/ (a): không thể tránh khỏi

Ví dụ: The accident was unavoidable.

5. Have you shared anything with others recently?

As a matter of fact, I have! I got a jar of cookies as a gift recently. Since I cannot consume all of that, I’ve shared some with my roommates, as cookies are a luxury here because I’m a student and I’m living on a shoestring budget right now. I enjoy sharing alcohol with people. It’s something that puts you in a good mood!

Vocabulary:

  • to live on a shoestring budget /tuː lɪv ɒn ə ˈʃuːstrɪŋ ˈbʌʤɪt/ (v): sống tằn tiện, tiết kiệm

Ví dụ: Since I cannot consume all of that, I’ve shared some with my roommates, as cookies are a luxury here because I’m a student and I’m living on a shoestring budget right now.

6. What kinds of things are not suitable for sharing?

Because I'm incredibly small, I find it tough to share clothing with my pals. I find it difficult to obtain garments in my size, therefore I don't want to risk people stretching them out. On top of that, I believe that sharing some goods, such as a toothbrush or a toothpick, is unclean.

Vocabulary:

  • Garments /ˈɡɑːmənts/ (n): áo, quần

Ví dụ: I find it difficult to obtain garments in my size.

  • To stretch out /tuː strɛʧ aʊt/ (v): kéo giãn

Ví dụ: The jacuzzi was too small to stretch out in.

7. Did your parents teach you to share when you were a child?

Yes, my father always said to me when was I a child: “Sharing is caring”. He kind of drilled the beauty of sharing in me, I guess. I have two brothers, so more often than not, nothing uniquely belonged to anyone. We shared everything, from food to clothes, even books.

Vocabulary:

  • Caring /'keəriŋ/ (a): quan tâm, chăm sóc

Ví dụ: Children need a caring environment.

8. What do you like to share? (OR What kind of things do you like to share with others?)

Everyone around me knows that I’m a generous person, so I’m more than happy to lend people my personal belongings. That said, I believe that the most interesting way to enjoy food is to share it with others. Sharing food and also other things help me connect with others and maintain social relationships. If you share with someone anything, then when you’re in need, they are usually willing to reciprocate

Vocabulary:

  • Reciprocate /ri'siprəkeit/ (v): trả, đền đáp lại, đáp lại (tình cảm…)

Ví dụ: He reciprocated by wishing her good luck.

9. What would you think will be commonly shared in the future?

I’m not quite sure. In the next 5 or 10 years, maybe the most commonly shared thing will be information. I mean in this age of technology, everything and everyone revolves around technology, right? But that’s just my guess. I’m not an expert by any means.

Vocabulary:

  • to revolve around /rɪˈvɒlv əˈraʊnd/ (v): xoay quanh

Ví dụ: I mean in this age of technology, everything and everyone revolves around technology, right?

  • by any means /baɪ ˈɛni miːnz/ (adv): Bằng bất cứ mọi cách.

Ví dụ: By any means, we should tell him frankly what we think of his proposal.

10. Why do some people not want to share with others?

I guess some people are selfish and somehow maybe during their childhood and during the process of their upbringing, they aren’t taught the beauty of sharing. So, when they grow up, they are generally more self-centered and are less likely to share things with others or even help others.

Vocabulary:

  • Upbringing /ˈʌpˌbrɪŋɪŋ/ (n): quá trình nuôi dưỡng

Ví dụ: The children had had a harsh upbringing.

  • Self-centered /sɛlf-ˈsɛntəd/ (a): vị kỷ
